There are 3 basic types of motor insurance:
A summary of the fundamental areas of cover is below. With over 400 different policies (yes 400) this should only be used as a guide. Precise details of any particular policy can be supplied on request, including a full copy of the policy wording if required.
That's the "basic" cover summary. Now you might want to consider some other factors:
Free Courtesy Car do you get one and is it FREE?
New Car for Old if your car is less than a year old, will you get a brand new car if its written off?
Legal Protection rapidly becoming a "must have". Reflects the fact that most accidents these days seem to end up with a lawyer involved.
Which factors affect my premium?
Difficult this one. Rare for any two policies to match. Too many variables. Age, postcode, vehicle, no claims discount, past record of any accident or conviction and occupation (amongst others).
All influence the way a particular company rates your "risk" to them. So you have to be very careful when comparing prices - that's why you have a broker - to do it for you.
What we can say is that cheaper premiums very rarely tell the full story.
